Wellington (the Capital City of New Zealand) topped Deutsche Bank’s list of 50 most liveable global cities, coming out at number one with the best quality of life (May 2018). It is a clean, safe, vibrant city sitting on a stunning harbour, surrounded by lush green hills. The Wellington region has a population of 496,000 and is home to many diverse cultures. Statistics New Zealand estimate that 25% of people in Wellington were born overseas.
St Mark’s is small enough to provide individual care in a supportive, family environment. We are also large enough to offer a range of subjects and opportunities for our students. Our exceptional teachers love what they do and ensure that our international students are supported and nurtured, whilst learning, exploring and experiencing new things every day. St Mark’s offers small class sizes and our IB curriculum is aimed at developing the academic, social and emotional well-being of our students. There is a vibrant and supportive atmosphere at the school, which makes it easy to share challenges. Students are encouraged to be ambitious in their goals and work hard to achieve them. However we also make sure there is plenty of time to play and have fun!
We encourage all international students to become involved in the life of the school. Opportunities to develop interests are available in a range of sports, music, speech and drama. The International Hub is the base for all international students and the venue for English lessons, shared lunches and social occasions.
I look forward to hearing from you and welcoming your family to our school.
Mrs Chunxiao Lu 鲁春晓
Director of International Students.
